I spent 20 years as a Marine and never had an issue with weight. Since retirement 10 years ago, I have had 2 seperate back surgeries that precluded me from even walking at length. The last 18 months, I put on 35 lbs and it was increasing exponentially without reasoning. I was being told by family members that they were concerned about my weight gain. I was concerned as well as I weighed in at 295lbs this past Thanksgiving. My ideal weight is 210.
I am not a fan of the Dr.'s office and rarely seek medical advice. I assumed my thyroid was out of wack and was not even considering going to my Dr. as he would inevitably send me to shrinks, specialist and put me on BP and other meds. I found Weightlossagents.com and did my own research. I went to their blogs and actually talked to others who had just gone through the gastric sleeve surgery. I finally made my decision and made my own appointment.
I was not originally going to tell my family as I knew once they heard I was going to Mexico for surgery that I would get the typical American hype and concern. My son was even scared that I would wake up in a bucket of ice and left with a note to call 911 that my organs had been harvested. This over analyzing did not deter me and I am better for it.
I flew to SanDiego and was picked up just like they said. I went to a very nice hotel, just like they said. I was treated very professionally just like they said. The surgery and stay went EXACTLY just like they told me it would go.
I am 6 weeks post surgety and have lost 50+lbs. I am eating regular foods at will albiet much smaller portions and it takes me way more time to consume. 4oz of intake at a time is not much for someone used to putting in my mouth what ever and how much I wanted. This was my biggest adjustment. That and the rapid weight loss. Phyically I am feeling great. I can actually see my pecker again.
The only discomfort from the surgery was the gas, .......wait for it......"JUST LIKE THEY SAID". The actual incision sites were nothing more than bandaid issues for me.
I highly reccomend this process for those ready to change their lives.
