The surgery part was great!! Getting home in one piece was not. After I drank the X-ray potion, I was soooo sick that I heaved and retched all the way to Calgary, Alberta and all that night. I was taken by ambulance to the Foothills Hospital where I lost consciousness and had to have my heart corrected 5 (five) times. After being admitted, I came too in the morning, and was surprised to be there. I spent almost a week there and found out I was allergic to the suture material and had to have them removed. Since they didn't want to take me back to the OR to sew me back up, they left the wounds gaping open until I healed. When I finally got home, I had a fall and severed the Bursa in my shoulder so now am waiting to have that surgery because I am in almost constant pain. On the good news side-I have lost 120lbs and feel great!! More energy and am able to do so many things that I dreaded before because it was difficult to do with all that weight I was packing around. When I pick up something that is heavy, I remind myself that it weighs less than what I packed around 24/7 so it makes it easier to do. My experience while in Mexico was great. The staff were very professional and personable. The hospital and hotel were exceptionally clean and everyone smiled like they enjoyed their jobs. Two suggestions to help others go through this process: (1) Take your toothbrush & toothpaste to the X-ray clinic to remove the taste of the potion before going anywhere else (2) If you have to do as much travelling as I did, try to stay a couple of days extra to make sure you don't have any problems like I had. I didn't do this testimonial before as I didn't know if you wanted anyone to hear negative comments. Thanks for being there for all us larger people.
