Like most, I was skeptical that this surgery would own up to its hype. However, that changed as soon as I arrived in San Diego. Picked up at the airport along with my partners in crime for the next 4 days.

The hospital itself is new and state of the art. The staff - what can I say? Spectacular!

Dr Almanza greeted us the morning of surgery to give us reassurances.

Surgery was quick and I recovered without incident. Lots of popsicles and water for the first few days.

All I can say is to follow the directions you're given prior to and once surgery has been completed.

I returned home and saw my own family Doctor, 9 Oct 18 to have the stitches removed. One incision was still slightly open, however I was told that the wound healed from the inside out and not to worry.

Four weeks post I had lost 30 pounds. Six weeks post I'm down 42 pounds.

My heaviest weight was 315, I was 297 when I started the preop diet, and 287 the day of surgery.

Currently I'm around 244 and the weight is still coming off.

I exercise daily which includes 5 kilometers on the treadmill. My knees and back aren't as sore as they once were. My energy levels have risen substantially.

Hunger is still minimal and I find that I have to make sure to take in some food each day, although vitamins and protein shakes are now my staple.

Again, I wish to thank Dr Almanza and the staff for making me a new person.
