This is a POSITIVE, but REAL testimonial about my experience.

First of all, I am extremely happy with my experience...but you need to know what to expect.

My best analogy is like being a passenger on an airplane. You can spend thousands on a first class ticket and get pampered left and right, or you can spend much less without all the pampering and luxury...no matter what you choose, the entire plane arrives at the same destination.

If you are expecting staff and nurses to be at your beck and call 24/7...this is not the place. If you want to feel safe about surgery in a clean environment with people who do care about you...this IS the place.

I arrived in San Diego, picked up and whisked across the boarder to this beautiful hospital. The van will be crowded...get over it. The floors of the hospital look so shiny, you could probably eat off of them. They did my pre-op blood work and EKG. I almost was going to go that day, but it worked out that I would have my surgery on 7/12/18.

That morning, me and about 11 others were there to get the procedure done. There was some waiting around...get over it. I got my hospital room, they gowned me and wrapped my calves. Started an IV (which for me was the worst part of the entire procedure!) and you wait some more. They finally came for me and I walked with the nurse down the elevator to floor 1 for the procedure. Got myself on the table, we adjusted the gown so they could do what they needed to do...put the mask on me and told me to breath normally. 3 breaths later, I woke up in recovery.

You are going to have SURGERY...you will hurt. The gas can suck. For some, it sucks quite a bit. Others handled it better than others. You will have over 80% of your stomach removed...it's gonna be painful. The staff helps with pain meds in the IV, but the gas is the gas. Deal with it and get over it. This procedure, so far, was the best decision I have ever made. You sleep in your hospital bed, walk around pushing your IV, check on your other friends that you made that had the same procedure that day, and just relax. Are there 20 nurses running around helping you? no. If you need help, do you get it? Yes. Just remember, it's "coach service", NOT "first class" service.

The next day, they got you up early to move you up to the next floor so they can get the beds ready for the next group. You will wait, be tired and uncomfortable, and eventually get up to the 3rd floor rooms...get over it. The rooms on the 3rd floor and regular hotel-type rooms. Regular beds. You will have to pull yourself up out of that bed...get over it. You will hang, eat otter pops and drink water. You will get checked for leaks with purple water and then a test where you will get to see your stomach through a "live x-ray"...it's kinda cool. You even get a photo (not suitable for framing) of your new stomach. You hang, until it's time to leave. Nothing much more to do.

If you can leave at 5:30am, the border crossing is not bad...maybe 30 minutes. If you leave later, you're going to be in a crammed van for up to 3 hours. Get over it.

In conclusion.... Dr. Hernandez did a great job. The hospital was a bit understaffed, but everyone there could NOT be nicer. The hospital was super clean and great city views from most rooms. I paid for "Coach Service" and that's what I got. I got my VSG for thousands less than someone who paid for "First Class" service in the States. I was never concerned with the area, hotel, hospital, or those that I put my life in their hands. Would I do it again knowing what I know now? Hell yes! Would I send a family member to do the same procedure through Weight Loss Agents? Absolutely. Will I tell everyone about what I did when asked and give them information to get this procedure done? You bet! Was I concerned with some of the negative press that you can find if you really search? Yes. Did I find any of the stuff the press was negative about? Nope! I will have ZERO reservations about sending anyone to see Dr. Almanza and his group to get this procedure done.

I could not be happier with my decision, and thank you to the group in Tijuana and Weight Loss Agents for making this happen for me!
