The day of your surgery you are picked up at the hotel and taken to the clinic. The staff take excellent care of you and make sure you are comfortable. The surgery is over before you know it and you are taken from recovery to a room. You are very closely monitored over the next few hours. If you ring for help they respond immediately.
When you go back to the hotel the onsite nurse comes to your room regularly to check on you. If you call for the nurse the response time is very quick, much better than I have experienced in a Canadian Hospital.
The only negative to the whole experience is the traveling by van from the hotel to the clinic for follow up. The last thing anyone wants to do when they are feeling rough is wait in the lobby for the van driver, be driven to the clinic, and wait to be seen, and then wait for the drive back. It would be much better if they would set up a floor of the hotel for followup tests and consultation.
It has been 161 days since my surgery and I have lost 72 lbs. My high blood pressure is a thing of the past and overall I feel much healthier! The recovery hasn't been all positive and there have been times when I questioned whether I did the right thing but the positives far out weigh the negatives.
